NOT SURE WHAT YOU NEED OR WHERE TO START?

You’ll be given options on how to modify your activity rather than be told to stop it all together. In-person visits usually include some type of hands-on therapy accompanied by movement immediately afterwards to help the results stick; empowering you with tools to continue to reconnect and rebuild outside of our sessions together.

IN-PERSON APPOINTMENT

All of Groundwork’s in-person appointments are 1 hour of uninterrupted time with a practitioner who will listen and work with you to create a plan to get you to your goals.

With a little camera adjusting here, and a little “tilt your screen down a smidge” there, we can work together virtually to assess your movement patterns and walk you through exercises that are tailored to you.

Can’t make it in-person? Get the same undivided attention in a 1-hour virtual appointment from the convenience of your home, office or gym.

How It Works

Before working with me know this...

Services

The puzzle of lower body injuries, efficiencies, and the many stages in between. Foot, ankle, knee, and hip issues are my favorite things to treat.

I recognize how the foot and ankle do immense work to ground us and propel us, often humbly, without appreciation.

And I find joy in making personalized recommendations for footwear that will help rather than hinder you.

I LOVE

I BELIEVE

If we listen to our bodies, we can make changes to become more resilient.

WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO MOVE THROUGH NORMAL LIFE WITHOUT HUGE AMOUNTS OF PAIN OR DISCOMFORT.

MY PATIENTS TO BE ACTIVE AND ENGAGED PARTICIPANTS IN THEIR CARE.

Choosing to work with Groundwork PT is choosing to create a partnership for your health and wellness.

Passive treatment alone doesn’t work. We must make small changes in our mindset, our environment, and our habits to perpetuate positive, meaningful change.

Before working with me know this...

Do I need to be a member of Fit Club Wellesley to see you?

No! Groundwork PT is open to all community members and all identities. You do not need to be a member of the gym in order to utilize Groundwork’s services. Groundwork PT will continue to operate as a separate business that happens to be housed within the four walls of Fit Club Wellesley gym.

back

Do you take my insurance?

Groundwork PT is an “out-of-network” practice. Itemized receipts called a “superbill” may be provided for submission to your insurance company following each visit. HSA/FSA is accepted.

Unfortunately, the standard ‘in-network’ insurance practice model does not allow the type of quality, personalized care the individual is deserving of. The Groundwork PT model allows for one-on-one, customized treatment of the whole person at any given visit.

Please understand it is the client’s responsibility to look into their own insurance plan and benefits. Reimbursement cannot be guaranteed, as each insurance company’s benefits vary.

back

Do you accept my HSA or FSA?

Yes! You may use your health savings account (HSA) or flexible spending account (FSA) account to cover your treatments at GPT.

back

DO YOU ACCEPT MEDICARE/MEDICAID?

Sadly, I am not able to administer medically necessary physical therapy treatment to clients with Medicare or Medicaid insurance at this time. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.

back

Do I need a referral or a script to see you?

Massachusetts is a direct access state. Doctors of Physical Therapy are trained to diagnose and treat impairments found at evaluation as well as refer out to a licensed medical provider if the conditions or concerns found are outside our scope of practice.

If you plan to submit for reimbursement from your insurance company, you should call them first to see if they require anything of you for any out of network benefits you may have. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.

back

What SHOULD I EXPECT AT MY FIRST VISIT?

The first visit will include a discussion about your symptoms and your goals; an in-depth evaluation of your movement; likely same-day treatment; and a follow-up email summarizing our findings and plan going forward.

Please dress accordingly, in clothes that are easy to move in.

back

What is the cancel/no-show policy?

Please provide 24-hour notice if you need to cancel your appointment. Remember, Groundwork PT is a small practice. As such, your appointment is reserved just for you. Cancellations and No-Shows will incur a fee. Extenuating circumstances will be taken into consideration on a case-by-case basis.

back

How often will treatments be?

Each individual’s treatment plan will vary depending on what they need. This practice model emphasizes quality over quantity. You will always have access to me between scheduled visits and your plan can be adjusted as needed across the course of treatment.

back

Is there parking?

There is free parking available at Fit Club Wellesley. It is limited during morning and evening fitness class times. There is plenty of parking mid day.

Metered parking exists on Washington Street as well as the alley between Tony the Tailor’s and CVS.

After 4:00 PM you may park for free in the One Washington medical building lot as well (the alley just east of Mica Lane.)

Katie is knowledgeable and thoughtful, and her insights, manual work, and the exercises she has prescribed have helped to increase my mobility and reduce the pain from a traumatic bone break three years ago. When I needed help motivating myself to exercise at home, she created a special video for me to guide me through the exercises. She also offered to talk to my personal trainer so that my workouts at the gym build on — rather than work against — my physical therapy exercises. Her focus on her patients is exceptional and I am so glad to have had her help over the last year.

What I thought was plantar fasciitis, wound up being a tear in my plantar fascia (thanks for the recommendation to Sports Medicine Katie). I have been fortunate to work with Katie for the last 6 months to help heal the foot and other gait issue. Not only is Katie knowledgeable, but she will push you to do new exercises that HELP even if they seem a bit out of your comfort zone. She is always positive and I enjoy working with her weekly.

I had the most positive experience with Dr. Katie Lee. Her sessions were the perfect balance of PT exercises, manual treatment on my ankle/foot, and conversations about foot mechanics and the root of my pain. Katie was incredibly personable, sharing about her own life and remembering details about mine. She was also very responsive to any questions I had between appointments. After three sessions, my pain minimized and I had all the information I needed to continue to manage it on my own. Katie is truly raising the bar for all physical therapists.

I have seen Katie for sports injuries over the course of many years now. She is remarkably knowledgable, effective, caring, and thorough. She has dry needled my calf, helped me recover from strains, and given me all manner of exercises to even out my uneven sides. I followed her from her previous practice to Groundwork. She is the best.

I've been working with Katie Lee at Groundwork Physical Therapy for the past three months and I can't recommend her highly enough! I have been suffering from "plantar fasciitis" (in quotes because that was a diagnosis, but never quite fit) for well over a year. Several orthopedists, a physical therapist, a chiropractor, a podiatrist and many different treatments later, I experienced only episodic and limited relief. At Groundwork, Katie took the time to really listen and assess my issues--with the results that I'm now doing exercises for my hips (it's all connected!). At long last, I am able to walk and even jog without pain!! Hooray!! I feel like Katie Lee and Groundwork gave me my life back.
